South African cricketer's Rajini addiction

Looks like the Rajini mania has spread as far and wide till South Africa. The visiting South African team's fast bowler Ntini has recently confessed his obsession to the superstar's movies and his style in particular. Ntini sure seems to be fond of Rajinikanth's style statements and demonstrates the actor's famous finger tricks for Baba.Besides, he makes people drop their jaw by imitating the 'Peraketaale Summa Adirudilla' tagline from the last year blockbuster Sivaji flawlessly that stands proof to the number of times he watched the movie. Apart from Sivaji, Ntini also declares that he has watched Baba many times from where he picked up the finger gesticulation. Ntini's revelation has earned him many amused fans in Chennai where he is stationed along with his team for the first test cricket series against India.

Prabhudeva: Why my new Vijay film is special

In a recent interview, Prabhudeva said he has been busy with the Pokkiri Hindi remake with Salman Khan. Originally, he said, he had another story for Salman Khan – one which required the star to play four roles. But when Salman saw Pokkiri, he liked it so much, he asked the director if they could remake it in Hindi. This Hindi version of Pokkiri, Prabudeva went on to add, will be more stylish and lavish than the Telugu or Tamil one.

His next film will be with Vijay, and for a change, it will not be a remake but an original story he wrote with the star in mind. It will be packed with action and romance. Deva assures the audience that it will be funnier than Pokkiri, and just as fast moving. There will be several comic scenes that the audience will relish (similar, say, to the famous lift scene from Pokkiri that the audience loved) with a lot of variety in the plot. Music will be scored by Devi Sri Prasad and camera by Ravi Varman. Perhaps the highlight of this new Vijay film, pointed out the director, is Nayanthara as heroine.

Yaaradi Nee Mohini certified!

Dhanush’s Yaaradi Nee Mohini is all set to hit the screens for next weekend on April 4th. The movie went through the scissors yesterday, exhibited to the Censor Board Officials, and awarded with a ‘U’ certificate without recommendation for any cuts for its acceptable content suitable for family viewing. Riding high on the success wave of the last year Deepavali release Polladhavan, Dhanush will try his chemistry with Nayanthara for the first time in Yaaradi. The movie is a Telugu remake, directed originally by Selva Raghavan starring Venkatesh and Trisha. It is also significant to note that Trisha won the MAA TV awards for her performance in the movie.

Yaaradi is directed by Selva’s Assistant Jawahar and produced by R.K.Productions. Yuvan Shankar Raja scores for the movie.

Dasavatharam – KSR opens up with a special image

He couldn't be busier with pressing commitments for Dasavatharam's post production works. However, K.S. Ravikumar still found time to spill the beans feeding fodder to the undernourished media for lack of Dasavatharam staple. In an exclusive interview to the Economic Times daily, K.S.R provided a cursory glance as to what to expect from the movie and stated that since the visual graphics content appear for two and half hours of the movie, the project was being delayed.

Although he did not dwell too much into the details of the storyline, an image of Dasavatharam was published in the daily. The image, as shown here, has the all-muscle Kamal, in an Iyengar makeover trying with all his might to possibly topple over or perhaps support what could be a statuette. Inside source say that this scene is of paramount importance to the way script opens up. Having said that, it is also significant to note that the movie was shot in sets made to recreate the Tsunami aftermath.

Kamal too talking about the movie, said that he was very happy about the way the script has shaped up. He also conveyed that they have tried to convey a message that the world was changing into a global village, without going overboard and not compromising on the entertainment factor.

Pakistani film to release in India

After conquering the festival circuit, the critically acclaimed Pakistani film Khuda Kay Liye is all set to make history in India, as it will be the first Pakistani film to release after a span of 40 years in Indian theatres.

Khuda Kay Liye has been directed by Shoaib Mansoor, and has already won accolades at Cairo, Muscat, Italy, Dubai and London. Set in the post 9/11 era the film explores the dilemma faced by a progressive Pakistani Muslim who has to choose a life of fundamentalism on the one hand - and a suspicious western world on the other.

Released in July 2007 in Pakistan, Khuda Kay Liye is a rare independent Pakistani production for following a non-commercial issue-based subject. Actors Iman Ali and Rasheed Khan feel Khuda Kay Liye will surely work its magic in India.

Mystery behind Kuruvi’s title

Director Dharani who has an imposing track record for delivering fast paced entertainers is back in action once again with the Ghilli team that set the screens on fire a few years ago. Kuruvi with Vijay, Trisha, Vidyasagar and a host of others will be a summer bonanza from Dharani. Kuruvi’s story appears to be a highly guarded secret and it was very difficultDirector Dharani who has an imposing track record for delivering fast paced entertainers is back in action once again with the Ghilli team that set the screens on fire a few years ago. Kuruvi with Vijay, Trisha, Vidyasagar and a host of others will be a summer bonanza from Dharani. Kuruvi’s story appears to be a highly guarded secret and it was very difficult to find a small crack into this invincible wall of secrecy. But there appears to be light albeit a very dim one at the end of the tunnel!

A small trickle of secret suggests that the name of Vijay in the film is Guru Vijay who is called Guru V for short which explains the title of the film. Secondly, people who are being used for illegal smuggling of things across the borders of countries are also called Kuruvi. This might throw some kind of light about the film.

Meanwhile Kuruvi crew will be off to the picturesque New Zealand to can duet sequences involving Vijay and Trisha in addition to the already shot scenes in various scenic locales. Besides these songs, there would also be an item number when Vijay would be gyrating with the hip Malavika. Generally in Vijay’s films, a separate fast paced number with tricky dance movements will be the highlight of the film like All Thoota Boopathy in Shah Jahan, Kumbitapona Deivam in Thirupachi etc. Going by the past record, this number of Vijay and Malavika is sure to send fans into raptures. Wait for a few more weeks.
