Trisha and Vijay once again to team up
Nayanthara’s exit as the brand ambassador of the Chennai Super King’s team could have come as a shock to many. But the lady has now come out with her version to justify her absence during the first match. Blaming her ill health as the cause of absence, Nayan said that as per the agreement between her and the IPL she was required to participate in at least three matches but not necessarily the inaugural match. “With many matches still pending it was not right on the part of the organizers to expel me,” Nayanthara rued. She also explicitly made it clear that she was willing to stick to her commitments in future.
Meanwhile, the distraught organizers are said to have approached Trisha in this regard. Will Trisha accept the mantle? Well, there are many more matches to come…

Karunanidhi, eloquent and well-read speaker
We all know that the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M. Karunanidhi, is an eloquent speaker. But at the Dasavathaaram audio launch, he also showed how wide is his knowledge and how his speeches are based on good research. We all have to agree that we can learn a lot from this political and literary giant.
He lauded the efforts of Kamal Haasan in his own impeccable style. He related how he was so moved by the trailer shown to him that he hugged and congratulated the actor. He said that this gesture of his was spontaneous, something that is inspired only by great masterpieces. In a nutshell, he called Kamal’s work almost divine and capable of transporting one to another dimension The amount of research he puts in his speeches was evident when he spoke about Jackie Chan. He said that Chan has ensnared all the hearts in the world by his unique combination of acting, daredevil stunts and sense of humour. He added that it is not surprising that Kamal and Chan have a penchant for uniqueness and experimentation as they are born in the same year, 1954, and on the same date 7th, Jackie on April 7th and Kamal on November 7th. And coincidentally, both started acting even as children. He felt that this could be the reason why both of them have such a connection, an affinity, with each other.
He took the audience briefly through Chan's life and career – how Chan started his career, the great heights he has reached and his achievements. He lauded Jackie Chan and Kamal Haasan’s habit of inventing unique ways to attract people..One can say that the Chief Minister’s speech touched the summit when he complimented Chan’s character by saying: “It is noteworthy that an actor of international repute known for his prowess in action considers fire service personnel to be the real heroes.”
Jackie Chan, one of the world’s most popular action heroes, arrived in Chennai by a Singapore Airlines flight on Thursday evening. After a red carpet reception at the Anna International airport amidst tight security, Jackie Chan and his 10-member entourage were taken to the hotel. Jackie Chan and Indian superstars Amitabh Bachchan and Mammooty watched Tamil star Kamal Hassan’s Dasavatharam at an exclusive screening in Chennai.
It is said that all the three were wonderstruck by the performance of Kamal in 10 different roles, ranging from American President George Bush to a staunch Vaishnavite Nambi. The frenzy and excitement is yet to be over. Honourable Chief Minister released the audio amidst a cheery mood amongst the stars and celebrates. He handed over the audio CD to Kung Fu King Jackie Chan.
Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini, Jayapradha, Asin and the hot Mallika Sherawat, various members of the film world, ministers were present on the occasion. Shobana stunned the audiences with her fantastic compeering in three languages - Tamil, Telugu and English. Oscar V. Ravichandran donated Rs. Five lakhs to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. This cheque was handed over by Jackie Chan to the CM.

Nayanthara dropped from Vijay’s team
The Chennai Super Kings has cancelled actor Nayanthara’s role as brand ambassador for the team. The Chennai team of BCCI’s Indian Premiere League had formally embraced the glamour that cinema is believed to bring along by roping in two Kollywood biggies –Vijay and Nayanthara - as its brand ambassadors. But now Nayan is out. “As Ms. Nayanthara is unable to meet the commitments of regular match appearances, the team has now decided to go with a single star ambassador,” said a release from the Chennai Super Kings team yesterday.
Vijay, who got such fantastic support from the audiences during the inaugural match on Wednesday, will continue to participate in all ground promotions and match appearances. The question now is: whom will the Chennai Super Kings pick to replace Nayan?
Dasavatharam releases in India and USA
The audio release of Kamal Hassan’s Dasavatharam this evening in Chennai is probably the biggest Kollywood pre-release extravaganza that anyone will ever
witness. Among the many luminaries who will be present, the star is undoubtedly Jackie Chan who arrived last night in the city at around 10 pm, and checked in at the Taj Coramandel. Awaiting him at the Chennai airport were throngs of fans to get a glimpse of this international star. Chan looked visibly impressed and happy at the crowd turn out. This afternoon he will meet the press.
The audio will be released simultaneously in the USA as well. Narmadha media has exclusive rights of the audio in partnership with Sony music. The CD will be available at select stores in Bay Area, Chicago, New Jersey and other major cities in US. The audio release function is highly anticipated not only because this is Kamal’s grand opus but also because of the presence of a Hollywood star such as Jackie Chan gracing the occasion. There was talk recently that the film’s release could once again be delayed, but the latest is that the film will release in May. Whew. We can’t wait.
