Priyamani, Aishwarya Rai in a film

Priyamani, who got rave reviews for her work in Paruthiveeran, will now act in a film directed by Mani Ratnam. Mani Ratnam is directing and producing a film in Tamil which will feature Vikram and Aishwarya Rai in the lead. Prithviraj acts as the villain in this film and Priyamani is slated to pair up with him. This is not the first time they are pairing up though, as they are acting together in Ninaithaley Inikkum.

This film is going to take Priyamani places, since she is working with an assortment of eminent and famous artists, especially Aishwarya Rai, and it is Mani Ratnam’s film. This will surely do a world of good to Priyamani’s image, who recently got noticed in the north after Paruthiveeran.

Mani Ratnam has not yet named his film. The filming is slated to begin in September this year. A.R. Rahman will compose the music for this film and P.C. Sriram will be the cinematographer.

Jab We Met in Tamil

The remake juggernaut is relentless in Kollywood these days. Now, the Bollywood blockbuster Jab We Met is to be remade in Tamil with Dhanush and Shriya in the lead; Moser Baer is taking the necessary initiatives in this regard. The original version, with Shahid Kapur and Kareena Kapoor in the lead, turned out to be an instant hit. Jab We Met had all the elements that make a successful commercial cinema which appeals to all generations; youngsters had a ball in the theatres while watching this film.

Initially, Trisha was supposed to be the female lead in the Tamil version, but owing to her extremely busy schedules in two Telugu movies and Sarvam (directed by Vishnuvardhan) in Tamil, the role went to Shriya Saran.

Interestingly, Shriya and Dhanush are teaming up again after Thiruvilayadal Aarambam, which was a big success.

But sources say that the film has been stalled and the name was also registered. But to be on the safer side the director has decided to make a slight modification to the title and hence named it Villu. Mexico delayed, Vikram embarks on a fight!

Kanthaswamy team’s Mexico trip hasn’t materialized yet. The crew of the Vikram starrer that is supposed to have traveled to Mexico for the next leg of the shooting is still in Chennai since Visas of few of the technicians did not come through. The unannounced delay hasn’t, however, deferred the crew and director Susi Ganesan from working in Chennai. Susi is busy calling the shots at the Binny Mills in the city where a few stunt sequences are being canned. Binny Mills has of late become a favorite haunt for directors who are on the look out for a huge abandoned workshop for a perfect stunt shoot. The most famous movies in the recent past that featured Binny Mills are Sivaji and Pokkiri.

Produced by Kalaipuli Dhanu, Kanthaswamy will have Shriya playing Vikram’s lead lady marking their first time onscreen association.
