Cinematographer’s juggernaut in Robot
Robot, the mammoth project of director Shankar and Rajinikanth is expected to be talked about not only in the national arena but also in an international level. As regards the cinematography department, K V Anand who had worked with Shankar earlier on a few projects was anticipated to be in Robot also. But as Anand will be directing Ayan, his availability for Robot is ruled out. Then, there was Nirav Shah who had made his presence felt with sleek and unobtrusive work in Billa and Dhoom-2 was said to be teaming up with Shankar. But this again was ruled out.

Then there were a host of talented cameramen like Ravi Varman, Thiru and others and all the names kept getting dropped out. Now, the name of Rathnavelu who handled camera in Sethu and Nandha may probably be the final one. However sources close to Rathnavelu aver that the cinematographer is waiting for dates from Dhanush to direct a film and has not given an answer. Secondly a project with Shankar involves two complete years committed which may not be suitable to him. Meanwhile Shankar’s camp feels that the director would be using the latest innovative technology in cinematography and would opt for someone who is proficient enough to utilize these gizmos. An official announcement is yet to come and we will keep you updated.

Rajini meets his fans

Millions of fans yearn take a snap with Thalaivar and it is their life-time goal too (apart from professional goals). But only a few of them turn lucky enough get that golden opportunity. If you happen to listen their moments with Superstar, you would be pleased much more and Superstar would raise one step up in your heart.

Herewith I explain one such experience of a handicapped fan who met Superstar and took a photograph with him.

This January, Superstar met fans from various parts of the city in Raghavendra Mandapam - after a long gap.

When the news broke out that he’s meeting fans – it became a tough job to control the thronging fans on the same day and even in subsequent days. So, the photo session was temporarily shelved.

Interesting and heartwarming accounts

Anyway, those who went there to take photo with Superstar shared many interesting and heartwarming incidents.

This fan friend is a handicapped boy who is working in a Tailoring unit in Ambattur. I just interpret here what he said to me:

“Though I am an ardent fan of Superstar for the past two decades, I didn’t get the opportunity to take a snap with him and I never thought I could get that opportunity one day in my life. Any how I was affirmative.

Thousands of other fans were waiting…

When I heard through my friends that thalaivar would be taking snaps on a particular day, I went to Raghavendra Mandapam by 8.30 a.m. Guess what? Already there were thousands of other fans waiting to take snaps with Superstar. The crowd was increasing as clock started rolling. Additional police personnel were deployed to control the crowd.

Initially fans took snaps with thalaivar in singles. Later it was changed to doubles (two persons) as queue was seen unending. For each minute, nearly three pairs took photos.

Yogis and siddhas

The photo session was held in his Mandapam Office room. The room (a very small hall) was very simple but soulful with various Yogis and Siddhas pictures decorating the wall. (Superstar has a private room here where he meets his friends and others.)

We all were standing in a neat queue controlled by mandapam staff. We were allowed in doubles for the shoot.

Unexpected gift

When my term came – I limped towards Superstar (I am handicapped and substituted with artificial leg). Thalaivar saw me and understood at once about me. He asked the other person who came as my pair to remain there and asked me to come ALONE and then embraced me for a while and posed for single straight snap. When I fell at his feet for ashirvad, he said not to do that and made me comfortable to stand with him and also flew his arm around my back and gave pose to snap and ensured that it has come well and also he is satisfied.

Thalaivaa…..what a noble man you are. My friends were jealous on me and now I am a hero in my street and locality.”

Spot report from other fans who were there that time:

1) The whole area become jammed and extra police were deployed.

2) The photo studios did roaring business during the days when snaps taken.

3) The shop owners in and around mandapam had excellent business and their goods sold out.

4) Bypassers wondered what’s cooking there since the crowd is huge. When heard about photo session – they too joined it.

5) Some auto drivers who passed the place by that time – simply left there autos and they too joined the session.

6) Some fans who already took photos –came there consecutively. Superstar identified such a few fans and warned them not to waste his time or others’ time.

7) All fans were made to wait inside mandapam.

The subsequent photo sessions were cancelled later since many other district and rural fans started thronging in cabs and van to mandapam for photo shoot.

If MGR was a rage among
rikshawalas – it is our Superstar for auto drivers. The moment Superstar’s new movie announced or strongly speculated – you can see the movie’s name painted/imprinted in countless autos all over Tamil Nadu especially in Chennai city.

Canvas becomes black board

As Rajini fans started switching over to society friendly mode of celebrations – these auto drivers too have started thinking differently. Why not use the movie name or Superstar’s name for a good cause? Or use the rear canvas for something which is meaningful?

Messageful and meaningful autos

As a result, we could find some interesting and at the same time useful inspirations. These ranges from Superstar’s quotes, one liners, punch dialogues. Why, even some print Thirukural and relate it to Superstar and his life. (I have seen many Thirukural autos in the city like this!)

Sambo Siva Sambo, ROBOT varudhu oram po

1) In the back canvas there was a quote which highlighted the importance of education.

2) Another quote stressed the importance of service to poor – “Hands which serve poor are holier than the hands which pray in temple.” (How much TRUE these words are…!!)

3) Importance of reading books and maintaining library – “Instead of building street corner temples, we should build library, which would open the eyes of knowledge”

It is very much pleasing to see such a ‘hit on the nail’ promo for education, service and knowledge by a fan of Superstar Rajini.

Ajith’s beard – a flashback

Ultimate Star Ajith was spotted for some time with a thick beard bordering his good looking face. There were many speculations and conjectures associated with this tuft of hair on Ajith’s face and some even ascribed it to his then impending fatherhood. However, the mystery shrouding his beard got unveiled when it was made known that the popular actor had sported the specific look as per his character in his upcoming film Aegan.

Now Ajith is back to his clean shaven look as the sequences with his beard intact have been shot which are said to be flash back ones. Director Raju Sundaram is geared up for the next schedule where Ajith will be romancing heroine Nayanthara. According to the story, Ajith’s father has two wives and Ajith happens to be the son of the first wife while Navdeep his step brother with whom Ajith is slated to have emotion packed scenes in the next schedule. Suhasini Mani Ratnam plays Ajith’s step mother.

The Indian Premier League match is due to begin on April 18th, 2008. About eight cities are participating in this sporting event for which cricketers were teamed up based on an auction. Chennai Super Kings, as the name suggests, is the team from Chennai. In an effort to popularize and encourage this team, the organizers have decided to make a video film. In this video, two popular film stars, Vijay and Nayanthara, will be seen shaking their legs, along with the cricket team and fans, for a song penned by lyricist Vairamuthu. Music director Manisharma will set the tunes. Rajiv Menon, apart from wielding the camera, will also direct this film. Speaking about this, he said that the cricket video would create a huge impact among the audience.

Trisha gets Maa TV award

The leading south Indian actress Trisha has been conferred with Best Actress Award for her outstanding performance in telugu super hit movie 'Aadavari Matalaku Ardhale Verule' .

The film, directed by Selvaraghavan has Venkatesh and Trisha in the lead roles. Trisha received lot of critical acclaim from all quarters for her acting and now Maa TV has selected her as the Best Actress of 2007 for her performance in the movie.

The movie, which went on to become a big hit, is being remade in Tamil in the name of 'Yaaradi Nee Mohini' , starring Dhanush and Nayantara in the lead. The movie is directed by Mithran R. Jawahar and is expected to hit the halls by the first week of April.

Nayantara must be happy, as she plays a role that has fetched lot of accolades to Trisha. The movie could well propel Nayan' s career as an outstanding performer, as it provides a challenging role to her.

A topless image

A topless image of Aishwarya Bachchan taken in the 90s published by a site has created controversy. The image which featured on a magazine had Aishwarya topless along with some top models from the 90s including Soman, Madhu Sapre, Ruchi Malhotra and Colleen Khan. The authenticity of the image however could not be established as all the models were posing their back to the camera.

The image has caused immense tension for the former Miss World at home and the Bachchans are not happy about the incident. Husband Abhishek who is quite upset about the event did not want this to evolve into a huge controversy. The Bachchans for now have denied Aishwarya's presence in the image and termed it as morphed.

This is not the first time that a controversy has created tension between Abhi and Ash. The lip lock scene between Aishwarya and Hrithik in Dhoom 2 had allegedly upset Abhishek just before the two tied knot. Its was also rumoured Aishwarya starred in Jodhaa Akbar on the condition that there will be no kissing scenes in the movie.

Cine MAA Awards 2008 presented

The MAA (TV) Cine Awards 2008 function was held at Gachibouli indoor stadium, Hyderabad, amidst an impressive gathering of limited film personalities, but a big crowd of general audiences. The colorful event started around 7.30 pm, and lasted at 1.00 am. Incidentally, it was getting drenched outside, which came as a plus point to the organizers. 7 Up and the TV channel jointly threw the Awards fete. Actors Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, NTR and Allu Arjun, Brahmanandam, Ali, Trisha, Bhumika (flanked by hubby), Charmme, Nikitha, Sradda Aarya, and Sindhu Menon brought some the glamour factor, slightly enhanced by behind the screen biggies VV Vinayak, Sekhar Kammula and K. Shilpa Shetty has filed a case against a website.

It has become a daily activity for Shilpa Shetty to get into issues and going to the court. Now she has filed a case against a website in the court.

Shilpa accompanied by her family took a pilgrimage visit to Saibaba temple. As her boy friend Raj sundra was also accompanying her, newspapers raised some speculation.

But a website went one step above and published that Shilpa and Raj sundra got married secretly and that is why the entire family went there.That news really shook Shilpa Shetty. On reading the news several people got in touch with her over the phone and enquired about it. Enraged by it, she made a complaint to the Cyber crime branch.Eager to publish news before others the website has now got into a problem.

Model exposes her assets on ramp

Wardrobe malfunction has become a sort of fashion today. Carol Gracias was in the news a couple of years ago when her top slipped off while walking the ramp. Another wardrobe malfunction took place yesterday at the on-going Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week in New Delhi.

Belgian model Debbie was walking the ramp in designer Rajesh Pratap Singh's collection at the Wills Lifestyle India fashion week when the incident took place. Her left shoulder strap slipped off, exposing her assets. It was too late when the model pulled the strap back.

Is it an accident or publicity stunt? May be it's part of the fashion show!
