Tamil Stars speak out against linguist discrimination

All the Tamil stars –big and small - gathered this morning for a day long of fast to protest the attacks on Tamil movie theatres in Karnataka over the Hogenakkal political issue. Rajinikanth, Vijayakanth, Sarath Kumar, Ajith, Vijay, Vikram, Trisha, Nayanthara, Priyamani, Sneha, Kushboo and several other Kollywood actors were present to voice their concern over the deep prejudice against Tamils and Tamilians in some chauvinistic groups in Karnataka. Mansoor Ali singled out the Superstar saying how much good Rajini had done for everyone. And since the Superstar is originally from Karnataka, he would be the best person to intervene. Vikram said he felt tempted to say something cutting and nasty but will hold back out of respect. Goudamani pointed out that Tamil were being singled out constantly in Karnataka for one thing or another and that this had to end. “Enough is enough,” he concluded. With many significant stars still to speak – Rajini, Vijay, Vijayakanth, Ajith - the fast continues successesfully into the day. Nayan mews for Ajith!

Ajith is no longer the beard-bearing angry young man made popular by the promo stills of his latest venture Aegan. Having filmed scenes that required his rugged look, Ajith is back to his own self, as reported by us earlier. He was also spotted clean shaven devoid any facial hair in AVM Studios for Aegan's shoots recently where song sequences with him and Nayan were canned. The song, interestingly, uses a cat's mew in the background.

Navdeep, who was recently roped in for the venture will play Ajith's brother. Hunt was on for his lead lady and last heard the director has nodded consent for the Mumbai model Piya.

Directed by Raju Sundaram, Aegan's star cast also includes Suhasini, Nassar, and Jayaram. Scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja and produced by Ayngaran International, Aegan is expected to hit the screens on August 15, Indian Independence Day.

Trisha: That special smile

Some would have noticed that special glow in Trisha’s smile in recent times. The girl gifted with a beautiful face, an attractive figure, and a smile to die for, has added glitter to her smile, which has been glowing naturally.

The new addition to the attraction of the beautiful smile is made possible by a new fashion called ‘Dental Jewellery’, which is fast becoming the in-thing among young girls. Trisha has opted for this ‘Dental Jewellery’ by embedding a precious Swarovski stone in her tooth and that is the secret of the extra glow in her smile.

The process, it is learnt that would cost Rs 1500 per stone. The cost will increase depending on the value of the stone.

It may be recalled that Trisha won the award for Miss Beautiful Smile in a beauty contest held in 2001.

Dhanush and Tamanna in Campa Cola Grounds

Dhanush is riding high on a success wave with Polladhavan and his next film Yaaradi Nee Mohini with Nayanthara will hit the screens tomorrow with a lot of expectations. Dhanush has been roped into his next project named Padikkadhavan whose title rights have been purchased by producer N Veerasamy for Vijaya Vani Productions.Padikkadhavan will feature Tamanna as Dhanush’s love interest. These days, Tamanna’s filmi graph is climbing steadily though she had a lukewarm start with Kedi. Her performance in the recent film Kalloori has been much talked about which fetched her Ayan with Surya and Anandha Thandavam with debutant Siddharth.

Story, screenplay and dialogues in Padikkadhavan will be taken care of by Suraj who will also be directing the film. Mani Sharma will score the music while A Venkatesh will be responsible for camera.
Shooting for the film will commence next month at Campa Cola Grounds where an impressive set of mechanic shed and street theatres are being erected by Babu who apprenticed with Thotta Tharani. Insiders reveal that majority of the shooting is slated to take place here with the hero and heroine involved.

Status of Rajini,Kamal,Ajith,Vijay

The Hogenakkal row is heating up and the film fraternity has come forward in unison to express their solidarity for Tamils in Karnataka. As per the decision taken at the emergency meeting at the film chambers, the entire Tamil film industry would be staging a day long fast in Chepauk. News about top stars canceling their shooting has been pouring in and the industry sure seems to be unified this time.

Super Star Rajinikanth, after his Kuselan shooting at Hyderabad is expected to take part in the protest and so is his contemporary Kamal Haasan who is said to be in Spain for a discussion on his next project. It has been understood that Kamal will directly reach the protest destination from airport. Ultimate Star Ajith who is in the midst of Aegan also would be taking part in this day long fast. When sources close to Vijay were contacted, they averred that though he was to fly to New Zealand for Dharani’s Kuruvi, he has postponed his trip and would be joining the unions to express his camaraderie. As reported earlier, Vijaykanth also will be taking part in this protest.

Daylong fast – Rajini and Kamal to participate

Rajini and Kamal will participate in the fast condemning the Kannada activists. A huge stage is being erected at the venue in Chepauk. Talking to presspersons yesterday the president of South Indian Film Chamber, K.R.G. confirmed the participation of artists beginning from Rajini to Kulla Mani in the fast. Radha Ravi, the General Secretary of Nadigar Sangam also confirmed the participation of Rajini and Kamal.

The Karnataka film industry is also organizing a fast tomorrow.As the situation is tense in Tamilnadu, police security has been provided to the residence of Kannada actors including Rajini, Prakashsraj and Arjun

Tamanna becoming popular

'Iliyana and Tamanna were introduced in the film 'Kedi'. Iliyana stopped acting in Tamil films after that. She is so busy in Telugu cinema that she could not give call sheet to people including Ajith and Vijay. It is learnt that her salary is in the region of a crore.

Before 'Kalluri' Tamanna's cinema graph was unimpressive. But, after 'Kalluri' what?

Tamanna is doing 'Ananda thandavam' directed by A.R.Gandhi Krishna. She has also signed up to act in A.V.M.'s film 'Ayan' starring Surya. In 'Padikadhavan' too starring Dhanush after 'Yaradi nee mohini' Tamanna will be the heroine. Directed by Suraj, this film is being produced by Vijaya-Vauhini.Vadivelu who gave outstanding comedy in Suraj's Thalainagaram' and 'Marudamalai' will repeat himself along with Dhanush in 'Padikadhavan'.

Directed by Debutant director Ashwani Dheer, One Two Three stars Suniel Shetty, Tusshar Kapoor and Paresh Rawal in the lead. The supporting starcast includes Esha Deol, Sameera Reddy, Tanisha, Upen Patel… and loads of character actors… One Two Three is a slapstick comedy with a decent starcast.. Is it funny enough to tickle your funny bone for 2 and half hours?
One Two Three Story

One Two Three is a story of mistaken identity of three men with the same name and the hunt for diamonds worth 20 crores. Young love birds Chandu (Upen Patel) and Chandni (Tanisha) get hold of the diamonds of dangerous don Papa. They hide the diamond in the fuel tank of an ancient car thinking nobody will ever buy, but to their dismay, their boss Laila is hell bent on selling the same car to save her showroom.

A wannabe bhai (Tusshar Kapoor), a silly geek (Sunil Shetty), and a lingerie salesman (Paresh Rawal), are the three men having the same name waiting for messages at the hotel reception desk. They get the letters and photographs of the wrong girls meant for the other person. Although they end up at the wrong places, they actually end up doing things for the right reason.

What is the duty assigned to them? Where do they land and what do they do?
One Two Three Review

A movie like One Two Three demands a couple of things. You’re required to leave your brains back at home and dare not look out for a story as more often than not, there aint any… Some movies of the same genre and style works wonders but most of them fall flat. Unfortunately One Two Three belongs to the latter category. Its nothing but a set of silly jokes put together in a senseless plot with a few actors hamming throughout. A few sequences are funny, especially those involving Sanjay Mishra but that’s about it. The direction and screenplay are below average. The music is bad. The dialogues tend to get repetitive (especially those by Suniel Shetty) but some of them are hilarious.

Sanjay Mishra stands out with a brilliant performance, his dialogue delivery and comic timing is superb. Suniel Shetty comes second with a good performance. Paresh Rawal is as usual good. Tusshar Kapoor needs to work big time on his dialogue delivery and body language. Esha Deol hams. Tanisha is irritating and so is Upen Patel. Sameera Reddy is strictly okay. The rest of the supporting cast performs well.

Overall, One Two Three is a below average comedy movie. Watch it if you have nothing better to do.

Paris Hilton hurts her chin

Paris Hilton badly hurt her chin after falling over in Prague on Sunday.

The hotel heiress - who has U.S. size 11 feet - was rushing out of a music store in the Czech Republic capital in a bid to escape the paparazzi.

Paris, who was wearing sneakers, tripped as she went through the door with her boyfriend, Good Charlotte rocker Benji Madden.

Instead of helping her up, Benji stepped over the 27-year-old socialite. When he realized what had happened, the musician helped Paris up and glared at photographers who were swarming the celebrity couple.

As the left the store, Paris was overhead moaning to Benji: "Prague, never again!"

The following day, the beauty was seen sporting a large bruise on her chin as she left the Good Charlotte concert at the city's Congress Center.

Meanwhile, Paris is the most overexposed celebrity in the US.

According to Los Angeles E-Poll Market Research, which rated more than 3,000 celebrities in terms of their appeal, 70 per cent of US citizens would use the word overexposed to describe 'The Simple Life' star.

Most celebrities average between three and seven per cent at the height of their careers, researchers found. Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan and Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen also appeared on the list.

Jessica Simpson-kidney infection

Jessica Simpson was hospitalized over the weekend for a kidney infection, a rep for the star has confirmed. The bubbly blonde checked into Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on Friday, where she remained over the weekend for observation and was later released.

Biography
Prince Henry of Wales (given name-Henry Charles Albert David) was born on September 15, 1984, at St Mary's Hospital, Paddington, in London, England. More commonly known as Prince Harry, he's the younger son of Charles, Prince of Wales, first in the line of succession to the British Throne, and the late Diana, Princess of Wales. His brother, Prince William of Wales, is second in line to the throne, and both are the grandsons of Queen Elizabeth II.

The prince joined the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst as Officer Cadet Wales in May 2005. The following year, he joined the ranks of the Royal Navy, as other members of his family have done in the past, and was appointed as Commodore-in-Chief, Small Ships and Diving. Sivaji Silver jubilee function
The year kicked off on a grand note with the 200th day celebration of Tamil cinema’s biggest blockbuster; Sivaji. The function was also presided over by the Chief-minister of TamilNadu Mr. M. Karunanidhi. The film, also boasts of being the costliest Indian film ever made. Shankar and Rajini also team up for the upcoming ‘Robot’ which is already making waves all over the country. Sivaji consistently ranked in the U.K. & Malaysian top 10 box office charts beating even Hollywood greats.

Sultan press - meet
Jan 13th was yet another milestone in the career of Rajinikanth, as it was the press - meet for the actor’s first animation film ever: “Sultan – The Warrior”. Speaking to reporters, the director – Soundarya Rajinikanth, (daughter of Rajinikanth) maintained a very calm composure and stated that she enjoyed working with her father as an actor.

Pongal Releases
With the release of half a dozen potpourris of movies - many of them falling under the much-anticipated category - the usually sluggish box office during the start of the year has witnessed a multitude of population thronging at the ticket counters.
