The Score Of Movies In 2008

Another Silambarasan venture that doesn’t seem to be getting much of a move ahead.

HIGHS:
Nothing particular except Silambarasan’s face value and the stills that looked different from the run of the mill.

LOWS:
Have heard nothing of it in the past couple of months.

Paruthiveeran Karthi’s long awaited follow up to his thunderous debut along with the Selvaraghavan stamp.

HIGHS:
Karthi’s Paruthiveeran brilliance still shines bright and any movie by Selvaraghavan is expected to be a class apart, technically and aesthetically.

LOWS:
Has been out of the spotlight for quite some time now.

Silambarasan’s post-Kaalai endeavor which had managed to create a ripple when first announced.

HIGHS:
The haunting stills that marked the launch that still linger on in our minds.

LOWS:
Intermittent shooting schedules and talks of the project being shelved.

Bala’s magnum opus following the life of a man who looks like a saint. No single movie has had so much news about it in the past couple of years.

HIGHS:
Bala’s high standards and the curiosity generated by the distinctly interesting and potentially controversial theme.

LOWS:
The huge delay and lots of negative publicity with cast changes and budget issues.

Goutham Menon’s long pending look at the lives of a few youngsters has grabbed some attention.

HIGHS:
The expectations that usually go with a Goutham movie and of course Rahman’s music.

LOWS:
Was announced long back, the lag factor will affect the popularity.

The Score Of Movies In 2008

This year is pretty packed. Almost all the big stars have a date with the box office and we have chosen the 20 that we think are the most eagerly expected. Look at how 2008’s top upcoming 20 are doing in terms of relative hype.

The Chennai 28 team gets back to business with a plot that seems refreshing.

HIGHS:
Has been constantly in view with some teasing peaks into the story like the huge accident spot set or the 24 hour time frame.

LOWS:
Nothing in particular but must not be delayed much further.

Vishnuvardhan after the Billa success and Arya in a full fledged commercial effort after quite a while.

HIGHS:
Vishnuvardhan’s return after Billa has got everyone excited.

LOWS:
Has been in the news for quite some time now without many developments.

The makers of Mozhi coming back with another poignant tale of father and daughter.

HIGHS:
Radha Mohan’s directorial skills and Trisha’s role that might give her scope to perform.

LOWS:
Has been long in the making.

The Em Magan team comes back after two years, this time with an interesting title.

HIGHS:
Signs of a clean family entertainer and a title that is a head turner.

LOWS:
Generally low expectations!

Jananathan coming back with what looks like a very different action flick.

HIGHS:
Jananathan’s label of being daringly different and Jeyam Ravi’s recent hit run with Santhosh Subramaniam.

LOWS:
Not much news from the Peranmai camp of late.

Hari, on the back of consecutive hits, pairing up for the first time with Bharath. Will it be another family action drama?

HIGHS:
Hari’s immaculate track record.

LOWS:
Been pretty low profile over the past months.
