Dasavatharam - Theatre Updates

The much awaited film of Kamal Haasan, Dasavatharam will hit the screens in a few days from now and Kamal fans all over the globe are elated beyond words. In Chennai alone seventy shows per day are scheduled across different theatres. They are Sathyam, Santham, Devi in Mount Road and Abirami, Swarna Abirami, Sangam and Padmam in Kilpauk area. Inox, till date has announced four shows but is likely to increase. In addition to these, Albert, Woodlands, Udayam, mini Udayam, Suriyan, Maharani, and Rohini will have regular shows of Dasavatharam. In the Kodambakkam belt, Kamala and AVM theatres will screen the film. In South Chennai, the open air theatre Prarthana will have two shows. The suburban Mayajaal complex has announced fifty shows per day in all of their screens which means that their ten screens will have only Dasavatharam in all the shows.

This excludes the seventy shows in the city which means that there would be 120 shows of Dasavatharam alone in a day in Chennai and suburbs. This is considered a unique feat which is first of its kind in Tamil cinema.

An interesting trivia about the film- It is a general practice of Aascar Ravichandran to make a trip to the holy Thirumala Hills with the film roll just before its release. But this time, he has changed the venue to Srirangam Ranganathaswamy temple.

Vijay pays heavily for Vadivelu!

Seems like Vijay has missed his combination scenes with Vadivelu in Kuruvi so much that he left no stones unturned to make sure he is a part of his next venture. According to sources close to producers, Vadivelu has been roped in for Vijay’s next Prabhu Deva directed project for jaw dropping astronomical sums. It is also said that Vadivelu has had to amend his commitments for other already agreed projects to make room for Vijay.

Nayan plays opposite Vijay for this venture produced by Ayngaran International. The movie will have Ravi Varman’s camera and Devi Sri Prasad’s music. Prabhu Deva is currently busy with the Salman starrer Hindi Pokkiri. Official announcement regarding the Vijay – Nayan venture is expected to be out soon.

Ishant Sharma Enters Bollywood

First he bowled out his opponents in the field with his fast and furious bowling. Then he bowled out everyone in the audience with his pace, consistency in performance, and hairstyle. Now he is all set to bowl over the audiences of Hindi films.

Yes! The fast bowler of Indian Cricket, Ishant “hurricane” Sharma, is acting in Victory, a Bollywood movie alongside Harman Baweja. Harman is an upcoming actor who is making a grand debut as a hero in the much-talked-about film Love Story 2050 (due for worldwide release on July 4, 2008) opposite Priyanka Chopra.

Ishant’s manager R.S. Sehrawat said that Ishant is doing a short appearance in this film but has many dialogues. He also added that Ishant is acting in this film as it is about cricket; also, he is not alone in this film but has his team mates for company too. Yes! The film also features Sreesanth, Munaf Patel, Ashish Nehra, and Manpreet Goni.

There have been rumours that he has been dating Sameera Reddy. When asked about this, he put on an appalled look and denied it. One cannot help pitying him, when he uttered, “I have met Sameera in IPL matches when she was introduced to me. That is it. There is nothing between us. Main toh abhi bachcha hoon…” (I am still a kid.)

It is desirable for us to protect valuable players like these from rumours. It might affect them badly and derail their game

Kuselan shooting interrupted

A song featuring Rajinikanth and Nayantara in Kuselan was being filmed at Alapuzha in Kerala. But it came to an abrupt stop when cameraman Arvind Krishna was injured in a mishap.

A special set with 10 boats was arranged on which Rajinikanth and Nayantara were dancing. Arvind Krishna was shooting all these proceedings from another boat. When he tried to jump into another boat to get a better camera angle, he bumped into it abruptly instead of landing on it and fell into the water.

His leg was badly injured and he was admitted to a hospital. Following this, the shooting was kept in abeyance until the worried crew got the news that Arvind Krishna is doing well except for his leg injury. After this, Arvind Krishna's assistant donned took over and the filming resumed.
