Nayanthara's next move

Nayanthara made her debut in Tamil through the film Ayya opposite Sarath Kumar. Most of her films are with top heroes in the Tamil film industry including Surya, Simbu, Ajith and of course Rajinikanth. She acted as Rajini’s heroine in Chandrmukhi and danced with Rajini for the introductory song in Sivaji. Nayanthara’s role in Billa is much talked about and the stills and trailers of the film show her in a different look. She was about to act with Vijay in the film Kuruvi directed by Dharani but Trisha came her way and grabbed the chance. But Nayanthara waited patiently. Her upcoming films are with Dhanush and Vishal, the upcoming stars in the Tamil film industry. Even in Telugu she has acted with all big stars. The latest news about Nayanthara is that she had been signed for Vijay’s next project after Kuruvi. The yet to be named film will be directed by Prabhu Deva.

Trisha IN IT Story

Has Gautham Menon abandoned his Surya film Vaaranam Aayiram? Last week he signed up Trisha to do a female oriented musical, set against the IT background with four new guys in the lead! And Gautham has pulled off yet another surprise by ditching his favourite music director Harris Jayaraj, and signing up A.R Rahman for this yet untitled film which will start rolling from August first week. Gautham himself is producing this film, which will be a quickie and he plans to wrap it up in three months. There are rumours that a Mumbai based corporate is backing the project, which is likely to release in December. Meanwhile rumours of Gautham- Harris fall out has been making the rounds, but director and music director have jointly taken off to the backwaters of Kerala, to compose songs for Vaaranam Aayiram! Just can’t figure what the hell is happening!!

Vishal Lingusamy Teams up again

Vishal in his new avataar as a cop for the movie Sathyam is all excited about this new role. Given that he is now officially considered an action star, his fans are also eagerly awaiting Sathyam's release. Shooting for the movie is progressing quite smoothly and is half complete. Hot on the grapevine is the news that after Sandakozhi, which was a rollicking success, Lingusamy and Vishal will coming together again after the for the actor's next movie. Earlier, it was rumoured that Jayam Ravi was to play the lead in Lingusamy's next project, but now he seems to have had a change of mind. It was also said that the movie would be remade in Telugu with Ram Charan in the lead. We wonder if that is still on...

Amir Fan of Vadivelu

It is well known that Aamir Khan is very busy with his current project, a remake of the Tamil film Gajini. Director Murugadoss had earlier screened Pokkiri, in which Asin had acted, to convince Aamir of her capabilities. According to industry sources, Aamir while watching Pokkiri had disclosed that he is a great fan of Vadivelu. When Vadivelu was asked to react on this, he said that he is happy that such a great actor enjoys his acting in spite of the language barriers. This implies that language is not an obstruction where comedy is concerned, added Vadivelu. As a mark of respect to Vadivelu’s new-found admirer, it has been decided to specially screen his latest venture, Indiralogathil Na. Azhagappan. Producer Narayanan of Seventh Channel said that they have plans to approach Aamir for an appointment to watch the film.

17 January 1917, Kandy, Ceylonn
Date of Death
29 December 1987, Madras, Tamil Nadu, India
Birth Name
Marudur Gopalamenon Ramachandran
Nickname
MGR
Mini Biography
M.G. Ramachandran (1917-1987), popularly known as MGR, dominated like no other, the films and politics of India's Tamil Nadu state. A charismatic actor and philanthropist, he commanded the idolatrous adulation of millions of Tamilians and became Tamil Nadu's chief minister. His achievements in 3 fields, namely films, philanthropy and politics were remarkable considering his humble origins in Sri Lanka. Raised in poverty by a widowed single mother, he had nothing more than his good looks when he got his first break in "Sati Lilavati", a Tamil film of the late 1930s. In the 1940s and 50s, the Tamil film industry was being transformed by screenwriters like Annadurai, Karunanidhi and others belonging to the Dravidian movement. MGR starred in many of the movies they helped make. Annadurai became his mentor and MGR joined the DMK, Annadurai's new Dravidian party. His films made MGR a matinee idol among Tamilians. He also started monetarily helping people in need, sowing the seeds for his reputation as a philanthropist. When Annadurai died as Tamil Nadu's chief minister, MGR's rival Karunanidhi assumed office. MGR accused him of defalcation and was kicked out of the DMK. In 1977, MGR's ADMK (later renamed AIADMK) party was swept into power. In his first term, MGR cleaned up corruption and carried out reforms like having an income limit for backward class people to be eligible for the reserved seats in government colleges and jobs. His reforms proved unpopular, so MGR became another corrupt Indian politician having learned not to rock the boat. Tamil Nadu stagnated during the rest of his reign. Yet his mesmerized legions of fans continued to vote him into power. His death in 1987 created a power vacuum that soon brought his old nemesis, the corrupt Karunanidhi, back into power. MGR was a complex man who triumphed over poverty and tried to improve the lot of the people who revered him. However, in the end, he was a god that failed.

kalloori Tamaana pairs with Suya

Surya is busy shooting for Gautham Menon's Vaaranam Aayiram which is likely to be wrapped up soon. It has been said that Gautham and Surya have worked very hard for this movie and have taken pains to bring in perfection to every shot. Now after this film, Surya will be seen in an A V M film to be directed by K V Anand of Kana Kanden fame. After Perazhagan, this will be Surya's second tryst with AVM films. Kalloori Tamanna will play the love interest of Surya in this unnamed venture of K V Anand's.
K V Anand, while discussing his new project says, "Currently I am involved in polishing my script, finalizing technicians and other artists. The story is about a man who struggles to achieve success in life. I want my title to reflect this one line and I am desperately trying to arrive at such a title". According to Anand finding the right title seems to be a Himalayan task right now.

Shankar is going to direct Rajini's next movie and the process for the same has been started.
It was after lots of gossips about Rajini's next movie - few said he is planning to do a movie with Kamal and it was also told that Manirathnam is going to direct Rajini, but all those gossip baloons were punctured and the clear - real news is that Shankar wi
ll be directing Rajini in his next movie.
Rajini has put a condition to the producer and the director.
As the movie is being acted by Rajini, its natural that there will be lots of bidders to distribute the same and in the case of Chandramukhi, it was told that AVM minted to the tune of 100 crores through Shivaji, so Rajini instructed the producer that the movie shall never be sold more that 20 crores altogether.
Now there are gossips that, as AVM was into trouble as the volume of Biz was leaked out, fear over the trouble, the producer is spreading such a news among the media!!!

F Tv Model-Sherya

Shreya who is minting money from Tamil Nadu by appearing sexy on the road shows and movies, followed her costume even in a function which was participated by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Karunanidhi.
The issue was yesterday (28.01.2008) taken in the TN assembly by PMK's Velmurugan.
DMK men came in support of Shreya, as they felt she is do such greater things for the cause of Tamilians!
Velmurugan also mentioned the vulgarity shown in the Karunanidhi promoted Kalaingnar TV under the title "Maanaada Mayilaada"
Supporting the vulgarity of the show, minister Arcot Veerachamy claimed that the show has lots of viewers, forgetting that even a blue film will have lots of viewers. He forgets to ask himself why F-TV is being banned by the police in TN!!!

Mrs.Abishek Bachan in Robo

Arya starring Allu Arjun was a blockbuster hit in Andhra Pradesh which won rave reviews. This film was publicized to be remade in Tamil with Gemini films buying the remake rights. For the role of Allu Arjun which was very vivacious, youthful and bubbly, Simbu and Dhanush were said to be in fray and it was later reported that the opportunity fell on Dhanush’s lap. Then when the issue of direction came in, Dhanush’s brother Selvaraghavan was alleged to be wielding the megaphone. However this again was changed and it was said that his cinematographer friend Arvind Krishna will be directing the film. But even this name was dropped and Balasekaran of Love Today was approached by Gemini Films who had booked him to direct the film. Eventually, as the unit is not in a position to commence work, this project has been dropped and Dhanush has gone to Vetrimaran’s camp to do a film.

Ajith's New Look

While his Billa is still keeping the ticket counters busy with activity, Ajith is busy shooting for his yet-untitled next venture in Hong Kong. As informed by us earlier, Ajith and the crew including director Raju Sundaram are stationed in Hong Kong for the first schedule of the actor’s next venture, produced by Karunamoorthy under the Ayngaran banner.
Ajith is said to sport stubble for this movie and images made available by amateur paparazzis who managed to sneak a snap of the actor during the shoots reveal the same. Sources speak in hushed whispers that director Raju Sundaram felt Ajith’s ungroomed whiskers looked good on him that he asked him not to get rid of them for the shoots and thus born a new look. The crew will return to India after their shoots are over and proceed to Ooty for next schedule.

Trisha get's a new LOOK!!

The year is full of promises for Trisha. The Tamil audience saw her in just three movies in the last two years.
She went on a sabbatical from Kollywood because interesting roles weren’t coming her way. But things seem to have fallen in place for the actor now, who has four big banner movies lined up for the year. Among them, the first to hit the screens will be Bheema. It’s a new Trisha the Tamil audience will see in Bheema. Playing Shalini, Vikram’s love interest, Trisha explains that a lot of work had gone into lending her character a loud look.“My look in the movie is new. My character— bold,” she says.Following their onscreen chemistry in Saamy, Vikram and Trisha have been paired for the second time in Bheema. “But it’s a city role this time and it’s action-packed. There’s no comedian in the movie, nor is there an exclusive track for humour. The only lighter side will be the romantic interlude between Vikram and me,” she reveals.“There’s no need to listen to the story of a few directors to take up the role they offer. Lingusamy belongs to that league,” she says, heaping praise on the director she has worked with earlier, for Ji. And one of the first things the director worked on after narrating the story was her body language.“Lingusamy and Vikram helped me immensely in getting the right look for the role. It will show when you watch the movie,” she confidently says. In terms of her looks, her straightened hair, that seem to have gotten monotonous after Something Something Unakkum Enakkum have been replaced with curls in Bheema. As for dubbing in her movies, something she has tried only during Aiyitha Ezhuthu, “No,I haven’t dubbed my voice in Bheema,” she says. “I’d love to do it but my Tamil is too Anglicised for it,” she smiles.

Trisha's Bheema Makes Heavy Collections in the Box office

Trisha, Vikram starrer Bheema has made a whopping 19 crores collection at the box office in its first week of release. This is said to be on par with Superstar rajinikanth Sivaji’s collection in its first week if not more.
Surya and Asin’s VEL had collected 2 and half crores & Ajith’s Billa had made 3 and half crores in Thiruvarur in their first week of release. Bheema has broke this record by making more than 5 crores in that district alone so far.
Linguswamy when speaking about the movie’s sucess said ” Bheema would have made many more records if it was released earlier. But better late than never.” He also dedicated the result to the hard work of his team. “The movies success even after its late release is entirely because of the cast and crew’s hard work”.Trisha seemed very happy about the success of the film. Trisha said that this year has been lucky for her with the success of her two films ‘Bheema’ and ‘Krishna’ and also saw her conquer the No.1 spot in both Tamil and Telugu. Trisha hopes this trend will continue in the months to follow.

Trisha Invests in Real Estate

Stay order for Bheema in Telugu!

The Chennai High court has issued a stay order for Bheema to be released in Telugu.
The Trisha-Vikarm starrer Bheema directed by Linguswamy was dubbed in telugu and was supposed to be released day after tomorrow all over Andhra pradesh but Financier S.N.KrishnaMurthy has approached Chennai High Court to issue a stay order from the movie being released in Andhra.
According to him, A.M.Ratnam approached him to get 75lakhs for the postproduction of Bheema and he gave it only in the condition that he would he given the rights for Bheema’s Telugu release. But he alleges that not only they have denied him the rights for the movie but also they haven’t paid him the money yet. Listening to his plea the High Court has issued a stay saying that Bheema shouldn’t be released for the next three weeks.
The Bheema team is visibly upset with this decision because they wanted to cash in on the Trisha fame. Trisha’s new film krisha is doing great at the telugu market and reinforced her position at the top of the industry. As of now, Trisha’s fans shud wait for another 3 weeks to catch her in action.

rajini life at a glance

Rajini, the real mantra of Tamil Nadu. There are fan associations across Tamil Nadu dedicated to him. Many more than for any other Tamil star, past or present. Rajinikanth, the carpenter-turned-coolie-turned-conductor-turned Super Star says: “I couldn’t have asked God for more.”

A bit of a recluse, Rajni may be. But everyone who’s had the privelege of a darshan with the thalaivar has come away with a spring in his step and a warm glow in the heart. Warm, friendly and affable, he’s the sort who deserves all the superstardom he’s earned. Such men, indeed, are rare...

It’s been 25 years, believe it or not, since the Periya Thalaivar (big boss) made his debut with an inconsequential role in a Tamil film. From villain and antihero to blockbuster supernova, the gifted actor has made the most of every outing. And he’s deserved every bit of the success. SCREEN analyses why...

It's a wide angle shot. A man is seen opening a gate, dressed in rags and smoking a beedi. A terminally ill disease writ large on his face. Precisely on that frame appears the Sanskrit term shruthi bedham, coupled with an off screen voice, an undoubtedly inauspicious start to any debutante’s first screen appearance, especially in the maiden frame.

The film was Apoorva Raagangal (1975). The film itself was thick in controversy, and nobody took notice of the young newcomer, who was on screen barely for fifteen minutes, muttered a few apologetic words to the wronged woman and ultimately died an unsung, unheroic death.

No one in the audience, even in his wildest imagination, would have thought this nondescript man, who had won the least attention in the film would ever win over millions of hearts in Tamil Nadu. Or ride the state like a colossus. Or even that his sway over the masses would be so intense that he could rewrite the fate of Tamil Nadu politics, exactly two decades after the release of his first film.

K Balachander, the director who has an uncanny knack of creating stars, first met Rajnikant at the film institute, where he was a student. Balachander glanced at the dark young man and crisply asked him to meet him in his office the next day. When Rajnikant walked into his office gingerly, Balachander informed him he was going to act in his next film. Overwhelmed by the sudden offer from a ‘big’ director, Rajnikant just could not believe his ears. It’s a feeling Rajni still recounts whenever in the mood of reminiscence.

Later, Balachander confided in his close friend and associate Ananthu, “Watch out! There is a fire in the young man’s eyes. One day he will take Tamil Nadu by storm.” How true the prediction turned out!

Producers went all out to capitalise on this new “wonder” called Rajnikant, and a string of films projecting him as an anti-hero, with all his stylish mannerisms in full swing, were released in quick succession. Gayathri had him shooting blue films of his wife without her knowledge, Bhairavi, Shankar Salim Simon and the like. Rajni had, by now, become an indisputable star in his own right, a force to reckon with.

Though Rajnikant persistently refers to K Balachander as his “guru”, it was director SP Muthuraman who actually revamped Rajni’s image entirely. Muthuraman first experimented with him in a positive role in Bhuvana Oru Kelvikkuri, as a villain in the first half and a refined man in the second, accepting a woman with a child ditched by her lover. The success of Bhuvana Oru Kelvikkuri prompted SPM to make a mushy melodrama with Rajni as a hero sacrificing everything for his siblings, a role ideally tailormade for Sivaji Ganesan! That film was Arulirunthu Arupathu Varai, in which Rajni’s mannerisms were totally missing and he even appeared as an old man in the last few frames. Even while the film was in the making, Rajni had misgivings about whether the audience would accept him in tear jerkers of this kind. But the film got made and its box-office success made Rajni popular among women audiences, too. These two films were a turning point in Rajni’s career — he changed from an actor who merely enthralled the audiences, to one who also made them weep. The acceptance of Rajni sans his mannerisms proved he’d at last become an actor from a star. Around this time came Mullum Malarum, directed by J Mahendran, which established Rajni as a hero with a slight tinge of the negative.

Rajnikant’s entry may have been humble, in an insignificant role but the success he achieved in a very short span was unimaginable. A popular Tamil magazine brought out a special supplement at a time when his still on the make, and, he presto, the magazine’s sales doubled with that issue alone.

Such mass adulation, the thunderous rain of applause when Rajni delivered his lines, all put together, made him a phenomenon. It was at this point that Rajni realised the onus had been thrust on him. The fate of producers hinged on him alone. This sudden exposure to the glare of the media and the popularity and money he never imagined would be his, created a lot of stress in his mind. At that crucial time in his career when his market price had just begun to zoom, he decided to opt out of films completely, sending shock waves to his fans. Balachander, Kamalhaasan and his other well-wishers somehow, coaxed him into staying on.

The second phase of his life started with K Balaji’s Billa, a superhit disproving the canard spread by detractors that Rajnikant was “finished”. He was accepted as a full-fledged hero. Billa was followed by a row of hits like Pokkiri Raja, Thanikkattu Raja, Naan Mahaan Alla and the all-important Moondru Mugham, in which Rajni essayed a triple role. Even two decades after its release, the last continues to be a box-office draw and Rajni’s fans can never tire of the thalaivar’s verbal clash with villain Senthamarai. K Balachander’s first home production, Nettrikkam proved to be yet another milestone in Rajni’s career.

An analysis of Rajni’s career graph shows a remarkable absence of fits and starts. It has been a slow and steady rise to the very top. As Rajni sings in a hit song from Badshah, a man’s life may be divided into eight divisions. Rajni’s own career may be divided into three segments. The first as a villain, the second as a hero with negative traits, and the third and present phase, as the reigning czar of Tamil filmdom. With Rajni’s films fetching crores and his market price skyrocketing, the costs of production of his films became unmanageable. And Rajni has since had to stick to a one film per year formula, sometimes, he could do a film once in two years.

The new trend where his films’ collections exceed normal regional film expectations started off with Badshah, followed by Annamalai, Arunachalam, Ejaman, Muthu and Padayappa. It’s now an accepted fact that only a Rajnikant film can break records set by his own films.

As an actor, Rajnikant’s greatest asset, apart from his style is his sense of humour and comic timing. Like Amitabh Bachchan is popular for his drunken soliloquies, Rajnikant is famous for his comic encounters with snakes, repeated umpteen times.

In the early 80s, Rajnikant made a foray into Bollywood with Andhaa Kanoon, a superhit. But Rajnikant could not concentrate on Hindi films because he was already safely ensconced down South. He still made a few films in Hindi, to mention specially Chaalbaaz which had Sridevi in a dual role. Rajni also enjoys a special kind of popularity in Telugu films and his Peddarayudu (remake of Tamil hit Nattammai) seems to have broken all previous records. The Telugu version of Padayappa has been a money-spinner, too. Rajnikant became a trendsetter recently with his Muthu and its songs becoming a rage in Japan and now, Padayappa running to packed houses in the UK and USA.

Basically a religious person, Rajnikant has always owned up his faith. “I was brought up by the Ramakrishna Mission and it’s from there that I have inherited this religious frame of mind,” he keeps saying. Even his films have him openly sharing his faith. In Arunachalam he mouths that famous line, “God decides and Arunachalam executes it.” His public meetings are always spiced with humour and embellished with anecdotes from mythology.

Married to Lata, an English literature graduate, hailing from an elite Iyengar family in 1980, Rajni has two daughters who are carefully kept away from the limelight. Lata herself a versatile singer, now runs a school called The Ashram. The couple indulges in a lot of charity, the latest being converting his Raghavendra Kalyana Mandapam into a charitable trust to help the poor and needy.

Ego and starry airs are unknown to Rajnikant. During breaks he hardly ever rushes to his air-conditioned makeup room. Instead, he prefers to sleep on the sets, even without a pillow, merely covering his eyes with a wet cloth. He never comes to functions with a retinue behind him and even prefers to drive his own car.

Rajnikant’s phenomenal success and his sway over the masses make people speculate whether he will follow the footsteps of the late MGR and enter politics. Though there has been a lot of pressure on him to enter politics by the likes of actor turned journalist, Cho Ramaswamy (“Rajnikant is the best choice for chief ministership because he has a basic integrity and simplicity, a quality which is very rare these days”) Rajnikant has persistently maintained a diplomatic silence, except for the fact that he openly supported the ruling DMK in the last assembly elections and discreetly in the recent Lok Sabha elections. When pressed, Rajnikant answers in his own inimitable style, “Yesterday I was a conductor, today I’m a star, tomorrow what I’ll be only He knows!”

A bit of a recluse, he may be at heart, but everyone who’s had the privilege of a darshan with the thalaivar has come away with a spring in his step, and a warm glow in his heart. Warm, friendly and affable, he’s the sort who deserves all the superstardom he’s earned. Such men, indeed, are rare.

Trisha pairs with Arya

This year has started well for Trisha. Her Telugu film 'Krihna' with Ravi Teja is a super hit and 'Bheema' is not doing too bad either.

She's now acting with Vijay in 'Kuruvi' and in Radha Mohan's 'Abhiyum Naanum' that are to be released this year.

Trisha has also signed on a film directed by Puri Jagannath and another with Nagarjuna as hero. What about Tamil?

The first will be Vishnuvardhan's 'Sarvam.' "I'm acting in 'Sarvam' with Arya," said Trisha to the press. Trisha is particular that she will act only with top heroes like Ajith, Vikram, Vishal and Rajini, so she's waiting patiently for the right offers.

Pa's the answer to Spiderman!!

Her name Soundarya means beautiful and that she certainly is.And with the brains to complement her looks, this 23-years old is ready to take on the film industry by storm. That she is the youngest daughterof Superstar Rajnikanth only adds to her allure. But,while most would imagine the pretty girl would follow in her dad's footsteps,Soundarya chose to become a director instead and also runs a multi-crore animation studio.
Helming a $10million project, with dad in the lead, her film is the first animated film of an Asian superstar. And if the response that her two minute trailer of Sultan The Warrior with a 3D action figure of Rajnikanth somersaulting and taking on the baddies in true 'cool' rajini style is anything to go by...the girl's on the right track.
Talking about her ambitious project, which she says is India,s answer to Spiderman,Soundarya reveals,"I wanted to present Pa in a way,he's never been seen before. It will be every Rajnikanth fans dream come true."Unfazed by the expectations, the doting daughter admits that though she's not nervous, she hopes she can do justice to a superstar who's revered by fans across the globe."There are almost 63,000 fan clubs across nations, "she adds.
"Pa is the most amazing human being on this earth.A fabulous actor,a superdad, and an equally rocking grand-dad to my sister's kid.I'm a huge fan of Rajnikanth and I Love him in all his roles-as an actor and a father. He is the best. He's God!"she exclaims.
With a face as pretty as hers and acting in her genes, didn't she want to pursue acting?"I do get offers, but I'v always wanted to showcase my creativity behind the camera."Letting on a lesser known secrets she says,"I had an option of choosing to play professional golf and going on to study animation.Infact I have played several tourments. And though I chose the latter,Pa was equally encouraging about me pursuing sports.his only advice was do what you want to,but give it 100 percent."
Starting off with directing Rajnikanth in her very first film, where does she go from here?"A coimbination of Kamal Hassan and my dad would be a dream come true.It can only go higher from here.Because only Rajnikanth can break his own records."Seems like sky is certainly the limit for this papa's young girl!

Lovely song for Lovely Lovers!!!! Enjoy it

My life is brilliant.
My life is brilliantmy love is pure.
I saw an angel.Of that I'm sure
.She smiled at me on the subway.
She was with another man.
But I won't lose no sleep on that,'Cause I've got a plan.
You're beautiful. You're beautiful.You're beautiful, it's true.
I saw your face in a crowded place, and I don't know what to do,'
Cause I'll never be with you.Yes,
she caught my eye,
As we walked on by.
She could see from my face that I was,Fucking high
,And I don't think that I'll see her again,
But we shared a moment that will last 'till the end. You're beautiful. Y
ou're beautiful.You're beautiful, it's true.
I saw your face in a crowded place,And I don't know what to do,'Cause I'll never be with you.
La la la la la la la la la
You're beautiful. You're beautiful.You're beautiful, it's true.
There must be an angel with a smile on her face,
when she thought up that I should be with you.
But it's time to face the truth;
I will never be with you.

Vaarnam Aayiram Climax Twist

If one had a close look at two of the biggest hits of Gautham Menon – Kaaka Kaaka and Vettaiyadu Vilayadu, apart from both being cop stories and backed by power performance of the cast, there was another line of similarity - the lead ladies of both the movies, be it Jyothika of Kaaka Kaaka or Kamlini Mukherjee of Vettaiyadu Vilayadu, get killed. Even Jyothika in Vettaiyadu Vilayadu was shown to be killed in the initial days of release of the movie only to be changed later and in DVD version. If a birdie from Kollywood is to be believed, even in the director’s upcoming Vaaranam Aayiram, the heroine (Sameera Reddy) is killed due to unfortunate circumstances of events. This is when the twist in the story creeps up with the arrival of Ramya into the scene. Seems like the director believes that the death of his heroines could bring his movies some luck as well as a huge empathetic fan-following for the Hero as well. A story about a go-getter and the impact of these two heroines on his life, the same birdie also lets us know that Vaaranam Aayiram has the potential to be the best of Gautham with some great music by Harris Jeyaraj and breath taking camera by Ratnavelu. With big time expectations cropping up on this Surya-Gautham combination after Kaaka Kaaka, we hope the same magic is weaved by Gautham and his excellent team of cast and crew. So until then let’s keep our fingers crossed and see if this proves to be yet another feather in Gautham’s cap.

dhanush on right track

Dhanush is riding high on a success wave with Polladhavan. This film has earned him acclaim and is doing well among the Pongal releases too. Now he has been approached by filmmakers with similar scripts but the actor wants to play it safe and wishes to wait for the response of his next film Yaaradi Nee Mohini with Nayanthara. This film is a remake of his brother Selva’s Aadavari Maatalaku Ardhale Verule which was a blockbuster hit in Andhra Pradesh. AMAV is a family theme with romance and comedy intertwined. Dhanush says that in Yaaradi Nee Mohini his role is very different from the ones that he has essayed all along and would be a pleasant surprise for his fans. He further adds, “In Sullan, I did a role which was much beyond my age and appearance. But in Polladhavan, there is a combination of comedy and action, which stuck the right chord with the audience. In film industry, I have realized that for any hero to become commercially successful, he needs to combine action and comedy. I believe that this is the secret formula of success.”

Spears Parties with Speeding Paparazzi

Britney Spears tried to make peace with her army of paparazzi followers on Saturday when she invited a small group of snappers into her Los Angeles home to party with her. Four photographers were arrested and charged with reckless driving in Los Angeles on Wednesday evening after a high-speed car chase in pursuit of Spears.
And the troubled singer felt so bad for the snappers, she decided to make it up to them over the weekendThe pop star picked out photographer Filipe Teixeira from the crowd and asked him to join her in her Mercedes-Benz so that she could personally apologize for Wednesday's events. Spears then invited Teixeira, who was one of the four men arrested by Los Angeles police, to follow her back to her mansion, where they drank champagne and partied with two of the other snappers for four hours, according to various Internet reports. And Spears had a special interest in Teixeira--he is alleged to have first introduced the singer to her paparazzo boyfriend, Adnan Ghalib. Ghalib spent the weekend in Santa Barbara after attending a family funeral, and did not join the late-night party.

Gossip About Her???

Britney Spears has severe mental problems. We hope she finds help (not named Dr. Phil) for them.
In the meantime, however, the catastrophe of a mother and a singer continues to make news. It’s almost as if she wants celebrity gossip reporters - such as the dude snapping her picture from six inches away in the photo below - to wonder about her marital status.
First, Britney was spotted shopping in a wedding dress. Then, she stopped by a church. Now, check out the new diamond ring on her finger:
We know Spears is a few pairs of underwear short of a full wardrobe, but she wouldn’t be crazy enough to marry Adnan Ghalib, right? Right? If that marriage takes place, Heather Mills, Would need to send Ghalib a box of chocolates for his impressive gold digging abilities.

A song to Listen

The real pick. With three female voices ---- Chinmayi, Sadhana Sargam, Sowmya Raoh (it is difficult to pick out them in the number) — and one male voice (the Airtel Super Singer Nikhil Mathew), it is a combination that is pregnant with possibilities. Harris uses them all and has strummed a very different moody number. The inherent passion is well brought out by (I think) Chinmayi right at the start. Nikhil Mathew (perhaps his debut number) gets the emotions right in his voice. What he lacks in resonance is compensated by his expression to Yugabharathi’s powerful words. The tune lingers like mist on a cold morning at a hill side resort.these all about a song from Bheema "Enadhuyirae"

Dasavatharam on April 10,2008

Dasavatharam will hit theatres on April 10, 2008. But wait – there's a hotter buzz. The total prints for release numbers to an astounding 1200. Never in the history of Tamil movies has there been so many prints made for a movie. The movie is set to release not just all over South India (Tamilnadu: 275 prints, Andhra: 225, Kerala: 75, Karnataka: 75) but also all over North India with 300 Hindi prints. Prints going overseas total 250. All this could only mean that Kamal knows for certain that in Dasavatharam he has a blockbuster that will outdo everything else lined up this year.

Lose for Cheeyan

Bheema , the Vikram starrer had finally made it to the screens after a struggle of three years. While talking to the media on Bheema Cheeyan says, “When the climax scene of Bheema was narrated to me, I was dumbstruck. I agreed to act in the film just for the climax sequence. According to Vikram the film was sold for 23 crores and he expects that Tanjore area alone to fetch one crore profit. Cheeyan says, “As I had promised that I would complete the film, I had stuck on this project for three years. As a result I had given away my salary of 1.5 crore and by not accepting any other offer I have lost ten crores. I have lost a lot in these three years mainly my mental peace. When questioned about his future projects, Cheeyan states that he is committed to Susi Ganesan’s Kanthaswamy now, after which will be involved in a Selvaraghavan’s venture. He also added that he will act in three films in a year.

Pirivom Santhipom

Cast : Cheran, Sneha, Jeyaram, Murugesan, SN
Lakshmi, Vital Rao, Sangeetha, Mouli, Ganja Karuppu,
Direction: Karu Pazhaniappan
Music: Vidyasagar
Production: Gnanam
Films The crux of the story is that the hero belongs to a huge joint family, while the heroine is a bubbly single-child, always surrounded by her close friends. She also aspires to live in a big family with people encircling her all the time. The two unite in matrimony. Sneha just loves being around with her husband’s mammoth family, whereas Cheran starts longing for some private moments with his wife. Cheran who eventually gets promoted and transferred to a different place, is happy of the development whereas Sneha is a bit troubled. What impact this transfer has on Sneha forms the rest of the story. though the second part of the film moves at a slower pace, the climax is short and crisp with a director’s touch. What is also worth appreciating is omission of scenes that would have dampened the story’s spirit. While most of the directors might have tried to cash in on an intimate scene right after the wedding, this film has shifted its focus from that trend. Finally, this film is not for those who wish to have a gala time, whistling or catcalling. If you wish to see quality cinema then head to theatres that show Pirivom Santhippom. Perhaps you might not see a better family movie in the near future.

Vasu mentioned that the movie would be regionalized to suit the likes of Tamil audience. Trisha Again Joins With Prakashraj&Co

Actress Trisha is all gung ho about her Abhiyum Naanum with Prakash Raj for his home production, Duet Films. All those who have seen rushes from the movie say this is her best performance till date and she could go on to win awards for her performance in this role. Prakash Raj, the smart producer that he is, seems to have capitalized on Trisha's newfound zeal and convinced her to do a cameo in his production Vellithirai, directed by Viji. She is said to play herself in the movie and that makes things easier for her or rather difficult for her to refuse. With Jeyam Ravi doing a cameo, Vellithirai, which is about a rising star in the film industry, seems to be star studded already!!!

Bheema Review

In Bheema, Vikram plays a man who has, since childhood, idolized Prakashraj, a gangster with a heart of gold. Vikram grows up to become a no-nonsense, street smart, powerful young man. Impressed with his courage, Prakashraj embraces him, inducting him into the gang. And with Vikram as his right hand man, Prakashraj gradually becomes the godfather of the city. He even outrivals his archrival, Raguvaran. Filled with rage, Raghuvaran and his two sons attempt to kill Prakashraj and take back the city. But with Vikram by his side they are unable to touch the newly crowned godfather. Meanwhile, Vikram falls in love with Trisha, and he becomes so lost in love that he loses focus and concentration on the job, nearly threatening the life of his idol. Vikram is now forced to choose between work and love. Lingusamy succeeds in provoking riveting performances from all the actors, but as scriptwriter he’s not as successful in keeping us involved. The first half is full of incident but the pace slackens in the second half, no thanks to some inappropriate song placement that spoils the fun. Bheema is full of style but little substance. As in all our masala entertainers, logic takes a back seat. Prakashraj, as always, comes up with a topnotch performance. Trisha’s role is bubbly and this talented heroine makes the most of it, looking cute all through the film and ravishing in the song sequences. Raghuvaran delivers that slick, sly villain he is so well known for. Technically, Bheema is brilliant. RD Rajasekhar’s cinematography is a treat for the eyes, especially the Mudhal Mazhai song, which is shot ravishingly. Anthony’s editing is terrific except in a few places where it is not always seamless. The stunts by Kanal Kannan will be a major draw, particularly the fight sequence in the market place where slow motion is used to great effect.

Bheema better than other pongal released movies

Karthik archeived in his debut

You wouldn’t want to call yours a dream debut when you had to sport a look in your first film that makes people think all you immediately needed is a haircut and a good shave. Adding to Karthi’s woes, the movie’s progress was jinxed many times owing to financial troubles. However, what happened after its release is history and needs no elucidation. A new star was born, said everyone in unison. Karthi is now contemplating between big banners and bigger directors.
