Vijay Bday photos

Vijay maintains his OLD Style

A couple of months back Gautham Menon had given an interview to a leading magazine where he had expressed his disappointment over an incident. He had narrated a story to Vijay which was liked by the latter. But the actor wanted the script to be altered a bit to infuse elements that his fans loved. For this he handed
Gautham the DVDs of two films as reference, Thiruppachi and Sivakasi, both films of Perarasu. Gautham in his interview had said that he was a bit upset when asked by Vijay to change his approach by watching two downright commercial potboilers. Perarasu evidently came to know about this interview and the comments. Now he has replied in his trademark commercial fashion.

Perarasu said that he was just an ordinary film maker, making commercial entertainers that appealed to the masses, films that were grounded in Tamil flavor. He added that he was not used to watching films from Iran, Mongolia, etc. at film festivals. He also reminded Gautham Menon that his films were heavily inspired by Hollywood films. He challenged Gautham to do a true Tamil entertainer for the audience.
This was a verbal duel between two directors who are poles apart in film making styles. An actor close to Vijay and who preferred to remain anonymous, commented, "Vijay was justified in keeping his fans in mind before agreeing to the script; after all, he just suggested a few changes to the script, not the entire story. A film that stars Vijay has to strike a balance between script requirements and star value, a skill not many directors have". Perarasu has proved that he can make commercials that appeal especially to the rural masses. But he is also guilty of overdoing heroism in his scripts, with the hero and more strangely himself being projected in a pretty larger than life manner which hasn't always worked.
Let's see who has the last laugh. In the meantime, we leave you with an open question, which would suit Vijay better, Kaaka Kaaka style or Thiruppachi style?

Billa attracts even when Kuselan is ready

Nayanthara is sure on cloud nine these days. Why not! She has bagged a role in Rajini’s Kuselan for the third consecutive time. The excited actress says that she is happy that she was once again considered for a Rajini-starrer though it happens to be only a guest role. Well, this cameo has a little more than the usual ones, as she will be seen shaking her legs
in two songs in Kuselan. Nayanthara is still in the spotlight for wearing some revealing and glamorous outfits in Billa. When questioned about this and her reportedly high salary in that film, Nayan denied it. She also went on to say that reviews about her dresses in Billa do not bother her anymore as much and more has been said about it. The actress also said that she would not appear in such glamorous outfits anymore.

Kuselan Audio Release Gallery

The last evening of June 30, 2008 marked the coming together of the who’s who of industry for Rajinikanth’s next venture Kuselan’s audio launch at Le Meridian. The conference hall at Le Meridian with a capacity of 400 was brimming with crowd that constitutes of VIPs and fans amounting to 1500.

The two hour long affair consisted of emotional speeches, generous distribution of health tips, and the much awaited audio launch. Latha Rajinikanth, Dhanush, Aishwarya, Vadivelu, Abirami Ramanathan, and Sivaji films Ramkumar took part in the event among others.

Since Kuselan narrates the tale of two friends, the audio launch started off with the chief invitees giving away audio CDs to their close friends after the official launch in which K Balachander presented the first copy of audio to A R Rahman. While superstar presented a copy of the audio to his friend Murali, Director P Vasu called upon his friend Leo Christopher to the stage for the same purpose. Bharathiraja turned into an emotional state and broke into tears when Balachander invited him to the stage to receive his friend-copy.

Addressing the gathering moments later Bharathiraja mentioned that human emotions could rarely be controlled, in an attempt to justify his tears. He stated that he considered Balachander’s gift to be more honorable than Padma Shri. “I had watched his Neerkumizhi many times before stepping into the industry and wondered if I could ever reach that level,” he stated further adding that he felt privileged being called his friend.

Rajinikanth revealed his secret of staying young in his speech. Rajini stated: “I have had people tell me that I look younger in Kuselan than in Sivaji. My secret is to avoid what I call white food namely salt, sugar, rice, pills, milk, curd, and ghee. One can eat anything before 40 but to avoid white food it is the secret to stay young after 40.” He also stated that positive thoughts serve as lubricants for the functioning of the human body.

Superstar announced about his plans of contributing Rs. 15 lakhs from his remuneration for the welfare of technicians who were employed in Kuselan. It was also mentioned that producers Kavithalaya, Seven Arts, and Vaijayanthi banners would make their contribution for the initiative.

Further in his address, Rajini mentioned that G.V. Prakash is the right mix of Ilayaraja and A R Rahman and that he loved Veyil’s music. “He has immense talent and will undoubtedly succeed,” he added. As an ending note, he noted that KB has the role of Rajinikanth’s parent in the industry while Sivaji Gaekwad’s parents are different.

Rahman, in his short speech, recollected that KB’s Kavithalaya was his first producer. He stated that G.V Prakash has his parents’ blessings and he will achieve greater successes. Prakash, in turn, mentioned in his speech that Rahman is his guru and the he is a hard-core Rajini fan.
