Some of the great moments @ IPL T20

61 Cannes Film Festival

'Robot' - Rajini goes to America

Work on 'Robot' is going on as fast as war and as slow as for peace. There are lots of graphics and animation work involved in the film, and the technical crew has already gone to the US.

In a few days, Shankar and Rajini are to go to US, to bring about a young Rajini on screen.

In 'Sivaji,' top rated make-up artistes and make up stuff was used to give Rajini that young appearance. In 'Robot,' he is supposed to look younger than that, hence the trip to the US.In 'Robot,' Rajini is expected to change into various get-ups quite like Kamal in his new film. This is all because of the story.
In US, there will be changes made to Rajini's appearance and in a way it is quite like a photo session. Because it is Shankar and Rajini, the trip would be a costly one.

Jyothika, Trisha, and now?

One of the critically acclaimed movies of 2007, Mozhi was the swan song of Jyothika and the actress was elated at the choice of her last movie when it opened to rave reviews. Director Radha Mohan is remaking it into Hindi under Radaan’s banner and is also busy with Abhiyum Naanum that narrates the father - daughter relationship played by Trisha and Prakashraj. Sources reveal that the final rushes of the movie were satisfactory and it would prove to be a milestone in Trisha’s career.

Meanwhile, Radha Mohan has also decided his next course of action. He has recently signed on the dotted line for Ayngaran International receiving a token advance from the production moguls. Further details have not been finalized yet and will be out soon in an official announcement.

Kuselan – the missing singer!

Kuselan is gearing up for a July release and director Vasu is leaving no stones unturned to achieve the target date. The movie is expected to be successful on par with Anbulla Rajinikanth - the superstar starrer of the eighties where he played himself in which Meena also played a significant role. The inevitable SPB who usually has a song credit in almost all Rajini movies will not be a part of Kuselan, however, the movie will have Rajini, Meena, Pasupathy, and Vadivel straining their vocal chords for a song.

Kuselan has a truckload of stars, big and small, since Rajini plays himself in the movie. Pasupathy plays the superstar’s childhood school friend and has a meaty role.

Peraanmai – a 9 crores promise!

Peraanmai has got a sanction from its producer, that of 9 crores. Now that is not a small budget and speaks a lot about the faith that the producer has in the actor's star status and of course, the director's skill to pull off a real blinder. S.P. Jananathan, at the helm of

things must be a happy man with the way things have worked out. After the critical success of Iyarkkai and the commercial success of E, he has received the right kind of faith in the form of budget granted on a first copy basis and he deserves every bit of faith that he has got.

Things look good for the Peraanmai team, with the initial stills grabbing many bytes of news and their lead man Jeyam Ravi tasting success big time with Santosh Subramaniam and having a thriller of sorts in Dhaam Dhoom awaiting release. And as you might have read on the site some time back, Peraanmai will be seeing some novel technical stuff like helicopter cameras being used for the first time in Tamil cinema. Great going.

Aegan - Not just action

Contrary to expectations that Ajith’s Aegan will be an all out action ride, the movies crew has given us a feeler about its other side. Yes, Aegan will have action aplenty, enough to satiate all Ultimate Star fans but it will not be just action, there will be a strong sentimental current running through the movie. The outline of the story that we have heard of suggests that lots of family emotions will be at play in this movie.

In Aegan, Ajith’s father marries a second time. Ajith’s foster brother, played by Navdeep, is born out of the marriage. The situations in the life of such a family, the sentiments involved between a step mother and son, are said to form a pivotal portion of the story. Suhasini plays the role of the second wife. The Aegan crew says that Ajith will be seen in many emotionally moving scenes and that will definitely grab our attention.

Also, the crew has revealed that a very stylish duet featuring Ajith and Nayanthara, one that will catch everyone’s eye is set to be shot very soon. In fact, news is that the crew is only waiting for Ajith to return from Cannes where he was present on the 18th along with Vishnuvardhan for the screening of Billa. So, Aegan is not just another action ride, we will get to see Ajith in yet another potentially moving performance after Kreedom. Let’s wait and watch.

Mani Ratnam’s chocolate villain

After receiving rave reviews for his excellent portrayal in a negative role in Kana Kandein, Prithviraj is all set to don the villain role once again. This one, however, will be for the ace director Mani Ratnam, an offer none could refuse! Adding attraction to it is that Prithvi will be cast with Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan. Kollywood is also abuzz with news that either Kamal or Vikram could be included to the star cast, perhaps in a guest role. Sources also state that Prithvi was Mani Ratnam's first choice for the role!
