Priyamani, Aishwarya Rai in a film

Priyamani, who got rave reviews for her work in Paruthiveeran, will now act in a film directed by Mani Ratnam. Mani Ratnam is directing and producing a film in Tamil which will feature Vikram and Aishwarya Rai in the lead. Prithviraj acts as the villain in this film and Priyamani is slated to pair up with him. This is not the first time they are pairing up though, as they are acting together in Ninaithaley Inikkum.

This film is going to take Priyamani places, since she is working with an assortment of eminent and famous artists, especially Aishwarya Rai, and it is Mani Ratnam’s film. This will surely do a world of good to Priyamani’s image, who recently got noticed in the north after Paruthiveeran.

Mani Ratnam has not yet named his film. The filming is slated to begin in September this year. A.R. Rahman will compose the music for this film and P.C. Sriram will be the cinematographer.

Jab We Met in Tamil

The remake juggernaut is relentless in Kollywood these days. Now, the Bollywood blockbuster Jab We Met is to be remade in Tamil with Dhanush and Shriya in the lead; Moser Baer is taking the necessary initiatives in this regard. The original version, with Shahid Kapur and Kareena Kapoor in the lead, turned out to be an instant hit. Jab We Met had all the elements that make a successful commercial cinema which appeals to all generations; youngsters had a ball in the theatres while watching this film.

Initially, Trisha was supposed to be the female lead in the Tamil version, but owing to her extremely busy schedules in two Telugu movies and Sarvam (directed by Vishnuvardhan) in Tamil, the role went to Shriya Saran.

Interestingly, Shriya and Dhanush are teaming up again after Thiruvilayadal Aarambam, which was a big success.

Vijay’s next movie again changes title

Ilayathalapathi Vijay’s next venture, which is directed by Prabhu Deva, is taking off today. There was quite some confusion for the past few months over the title of the film. Only two days ago the title was announced as Vil, which raised many eyebrows in Kollywood as it was the titled of S.J. Suryah’s film. But sources say that the film has been stalled and the name was also registered. But to be on the safer side the director has decided to make a slight modification to the title and hence named it Villu. Ravi Varman will wield the camera and Devi Sri Prasad will score the music for Villu. Editing is by Cola Bhaskar and FEFSI Vijayan is the stunt master.
