Action - packed events of January






Sivaji Silver jubilee function
The year kicked off on a grand note with the 200th day celebration of Tamil cinema’s biggest blockbuster; Sivaji. The function was also presided over by the Chief-minister of TamilNadu Mr. M. Karunanidhi. The film, also boasts of being the costliest Indian film ever made. Shankar and Rajini also team up for the upcoming ‘Robot’ which is already making waves all over the country. Sivaji consistently ranked in the U.K. & Malaysian top 10 box office charts beating even Hollywood greats.

Sultan press - meet
Jan 13th was yet another milestone in the career of Rajinikanth, as it was the press - meet for the actor’s first animation film ever: “Sultan – The Warrior”. Speaking to reporters, the director – Soundarya Rajinikanth, (daughter of Rajinikanth) maintained a very calm composure and stated that she enjoyed working with her father as an actor.

Namitha MegaMart
January also witnessed one of the hottest babes of Kollywood inaugurating an outlet for MegaMart at Valasaravakkam. The actress had a nice time going around the shop and also picked a few clothing items for herself. The event was well flocked with crowds thronging to have a glimpse at the actress.


Manorama 50 years
Last month witnessed one of the greatest achievements in Tamil Film History being felicitated. The whole of Tamil Industry gathered for the celebration of Manorama's 50th year of contribution to Tamil Cinema. Super Stars Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan also presided over the function. The guest of honour, The Chief Minister Mr. M. Karunanidhi, graced the occasion with his valuable presence.

Pongal Releases
With the release of half a dozen potpourris of movies - many of them falling under the much-anticipated category - the usually sluggish box office during the start of the year has witnessed a multitude of population thronging at the ticket counters. Although the results weren’t quite impressive, Pongal releases did manage to create a stir in the jittery January.
